I'm seriously tired of doing movie art so I decided to do something a little different this time around.. This is the final pencil layout for a painting I'll soon work on as a homage to the great Frank Frazetta.

Its been a VERY long time since I last drew or painted some heroic muscle so I have used a much tighter drawing style in this one trying to explore all the facets of the figure. At the same time I've also attempted to inject a little of my own layout and stylistic preferences into the concept.

Since this is relatively different ground for me, I have used PhotoShop to lay a color wash over the drawing (on the right) to try to come to grips with how I want the color to work across the layout.

This piece is shamelessly inspired by one of my idols - Frazetta -but I certainly won't be trying to imitate his painting style.

I'll use my own and hope for the best…..

B2 and B4 pencil on acid free paper

Freaking awesome. I love how if you line those ancient Christian symbols up like that, they look kinda Pagan!

Oh yes ! Frank Frazetta is the biggest idol for many of us, I was so sad when he passed. He is truely an inspiration ... Waiting to see that painting ;)
