Cheers mate - high praise indeed!!

I'm not convinced I nailed this one though - maybe I should have rather just gone the more traditional route. There are certainly some lovely pieces amongst the sets though. Chris' and Mark McHaley are standouts for me…

Hope you're well..

Spectacular... not only did you nail all of their likenesses as usual, and not only did you render them masterfully as usual... those faces emote beautifully, as usual.

You never disappoint, Mark! Top notch stuff... as usual! :w00t:

Seen a lot of female types dressed up in that outfit, at all kinds of functions, but as of yet, no-one ever looked as good in it as she did. Favorite part of my favorite Star Wars movie...

Excellent.

Cheers Rich - always good to hear from you.

I'm glad you like her. In truth I wasn't sure if folk WOULD like her since I specifically moved away from having her as a pin-up chick..

Thanks again and best mate.

Cheers for sharing, that certainly gave me a kick!

BTW, I put a better file for download up on that post. Unfortunately it has a celebration watermark but at least the color is more accurate!

Cheers again I'm truly honored.

Thanks Andrew - appreciate it mate…

I'm not wild with how it turned out but it will do the job. It certainly comes across far better full size than it does on a small thumbnail on a screen so its not all bad..

lol I always feel like that with my stuff, even the digital work, it always seems to look better before I scan it in or post it to deviant art... there's just something lost in translation. I might have to get some money together and buy a couple of prints from you man, I'd love to have some of your work at home. I'd be inspired without having to turn my pc on then lol!!

Thanks bud and cheers also for the kind words as always.

I don't figure on being an inspiration to folk so its truly humbling to hear. I just hammer away in a rather unsophisticated fashion and hope that in the end it looks reasonable.

Regarding the prints, I wish it was easier to make them available generally but the studios are very specific about them - they can't be done outside of their very strict licensing conditions. I know a lot of folk make prints available but this is the downside of working for the studios formally as I do, they keep a close eye. In part, this is why I'm generally retiring from Studio work and will rather concentrate on doing my own stuff. Granted, I will still consider the odd project with them but in truth I've been there and done that so its time to do other things..

Cheers again and best as always...

haha if that's you hammering away at it, the world might implode if you actually concentrated!!!

I figured as much with the prints, licensing laws are so tough it's hard for an artist to actually own their own work; so I totally understand that.

as for stepping down from studio work, I think whatever works for you is the best way to go. Sooner or later artistic merit and values will come back around, and studio heads will eventually see the integrity of a painted piece of art, whether its oil or acrylic or photoshop or painter; the current craze for mash-ups of actors faces with explosions around them will come to an end, and real artists will be wanted, no, NEEDED again. So whatever you do, don't hang up your brushes yet!! =D

All the best Mark; and thanks for putting up with my late night rantings, I'm off to bed lol

Beautiful work, and a great tutorial as well. It's nice to hear the artist's goals as they create the piece. Most tutorials offer no incite into the artists thought processes. Nice job.
