great linework. I would say the linework is on par with best inkers in the business. I would be interested to see what angles you had to use to achive line thickness with the prismacolors. Inking with a brush is one thing, but using this medium would be quite a challenge.
That's incredibly high praise considering your skill-set. It goes without saying that inkers have had a huge impact on the way I draw and if I'm to single out one individual it would be Bernie Wrightson with his Frankenstein series. I've always loved line-work and this is why it plays such an important role in my illustrations and while its safe to say there are many artists who's line-work inspires me, I consider Wrightson's a high level mark.
I generally hold the pencils normally and rely on the natural degradation of the pencil tip to change the character of the line as I draw it. I then rotate the pencil slightly so that I'm presented with a sharp point and I start the process again.
Many years ago when I was studying art, we had a teacher who demanded that we fill entire pages with pencil lines drawn equidistant from each other from the top of the page to the bottom, over and over again. I never understood the value of that kind of pencil control until I realized that I was using it in my illustration work.
Thank you for thinking I posses skill when it comes to art. I started doing this 3 years ago. I went to school for electrical engineering and recently I decided to do something different. I am usually happy about my results considering I have no formal education in this area.
I am amazed by the work you create considering you do it mostly in your spare time. Keep up the work and I hope to see your work at the premier of star wars Episode 7.
Well thats truly inspirational in its own way. I have seldom seen such maturity in style after such a relatively short career in art and I can't commended you highly enough. Bravo on your choice and I sincerely hope that your career storms ahead as it should!
Thanks again for your kind words. In truth, while I would be very honored to do the posters (I suspect Drew WILL do them though), I don't have the patience to deal with the endless interference of the suits.
I've always admired your linework...now in Khaleesi form!!! NICE!!! she's beautiful...how do you do it?!?!? how do you do those longer perfectly spaced, parallel lines (in her cloak)...it's a gorgeous mystery. Well done as usual. Thanks for the inspiration.
